AX-15trans and transfer case Swap into a YJ

This write up on swapping an ax-15 trans into a YJ. Start by removing your old Trans. First you will need to get a jack stand and put it under the Trans to support it. Remove the exhaust and any wires going to the Trans and transfer case. Then remove the two Trans mount bolts that come thru the skid plate. Next remove the 6 bolts holding the skid plate on. Then unbolt the starter. Disconnect the clutch lines. Remove the 6 bolts holding the Trans to the engine. Using a jack and 2 people pull the transmissions back words and remove. To put the new Trans in reverse the steps. There is one other step. When you are putting the skid plate back in you will have to leathern the mounting holes. I would recommend using a due grinder and a carbide bit. If you have questions on this subject or any other of my write ups you can leave a comment with your email and I will get back to you

Ford 8.8 Axle Swap into a Jeep YJ
















This is a write up of swapping a ford 8.8 rear into a jeep yj. First you will have to get your hands on a stock 8.8. Explorers are the most common for this application. After getting the axle you will first have to cut off all the brackets. I recommend using a grinder and completely cleaning the axle followed by a coat of primer to prevent from rusting. You will then have to weld your new brackets on. (Shock mounts, leaf spring perches, and brake line mounting brackets) Then give it a fresh coat of paint. I would recommend POR-15 because it stops rust and has a rock hard finish. You are now ready for the swap. Start by securing the jeep on a good set of jack stands. Remove the rear tires. Remove the drive shaft. Then remove the brake from the frame along with the e brake cables. Remove the differential breather line and anything else that will get snagged while removing the axle. Now remove the U-Bolt nuts and U-Bolt plates followed by the u-bolts. Now with the help of another person, remove the axle, Reverse the steps to put the 8.8 in. Once in you will have to run new brake lines.( I recommend using double flare set up.) Bleed brakes and your ready to go.
